HAYDN: Stabat Mater

Uppsala Domkyrkokör sjunger Haydns "Stabat Mater"

En rad solister och Rebaroque medverkar i framförandet av det vackra och trösterika verket söndag 29 mars kl 18.00.

Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) komponerade sitt Stabat Mater 1767. Det var hans första större kyrkomusikaliska verk och det skrevs för kör, fyra solister och orkester. Titelns betydelse är ”Modern stod (vid korset)” och verket skildrar Marias lidande vid åsynen av den korsfäste Jesus. Här ryms både smärta, medkänsla och hopp, tre grundläggande erfarenheter för både det mänskliga livet och för påskevangeliets budskap. Som musikalisk inledning på Stilla veckan framför Uppsala Domkyrkokör verket i Uppsala domkyrka söndag 29 mars kl 18.00 under ledning av Nicolas Haigh. Med sig har de fyra solister samt ensemblen Rebaroque som genom sina tidstrogna instrument ger barockmusiken sin rätta inramning. Konserten är omkring 80 minuter lång och du hittar dina biljetter via Nortic.se.

MONTEVERDI: Vespro della Beata Vergine

Mariavesper av Claudio Monteverdi:

Vespro della Beata Vergine (Mariavespern) är det mest storskaliga sakrala verket före Bach. Det komponerades 1610 att ära jungfru Maria, men sannolikt ville Monteverdi också imponera på påven Paulus V. Han ville gärna få anställning vid Markuskyrkan i Venedig, vilket också skedde ett par år senare. Verket blickar både framåt och bakåt i sin komposition. Monteverdi ansågs av sin samtid att vara alltför modern och han spänner den musikaliska bågen mellan medeltida kyrkotraditioner och den just uppfunna världsliga operakonsten.

Bach at One: B minor Mass

Trinity Choir and Baroque Orchestra, led by Avi Stein, will wrap up Bach at One’s celebration of the church’s new organ with Bach’s Fugue in D Major, and the conclusion of his transcendent Mass in B Minor (Part II-Part IV). Expect a majestic performance of a work widely considered to be the pinnacle of Bach’s compositional career. Bach’s most ambitious and jubilant motet for double choir, Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied, will be performed alongside a lush, witty homage to the maestro. The Organ Concerto in G Minor was written by Francis Poulenc, one of the 20th century’s most eclectic composers, whose music is at once deeply emotional and charmingly urbane.

NOVUS Renewal: Undivided

NOVUS, Trinity’s new-music ensemble, continues its Renewal series with Undivided, a concert that invites the audience into a space of empathy and transformation. The pinnacle of the performance is the world premiere of Andrew Yee’s Trans Requiem, a work for trans voices, choirs, and orchestra that amplifies the beauty, strength, and diversity of the trans experience and affirms the dignity of every voice. Complementing the work is a Trinity arrangement of Samuel Barber’s stunning Agnus Dei (Adagio for Strings) and Sonic Meditations by Pauline Oliveros.
